PRESS RELEASE FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE 'All About Kids Day' A Resounding Success. Hundreds of families crowded round to see local dignitaries pull ballets from three separate containers crammed with the names of children eager to win a prize. The first draw, a Little Tikes Hummer, saw six-year old Curtis Toms (the winner) doing his dance of joy on stage. When the prize draws finished, and winners claiming their new possessions, all of the ballots were placed into a big rotating drum for the main draws. After the Sobey's collectors car, (won by Kyle Penny) everyone waited for their childs name to be drawn for an RESP. Name after name was called (eight in total) with one of the $500.00 RESPs going to Jacob Wilson (less than a year old) of Toronto. The final ballot for a $1000.00 RESP was pulled from the drum by none other than the mayor of The City of Kawartha Lakes, Rick McGee, and was awarded to Conner Labbett. As the fun and educational day wound to a close, the crowds dissipated with thoughts focussed on the next 'All About Kids Day' in 2008 which organizers believe will be bigger and better than the first. "They may copycat what we've done, and for the sake of children everywhere I hope so," Coordinator Ed Bastin said in response to the question; "Do you think this could be an exclusive event put on by the Fenelon Fair?" "and perhaps they have the resources and can make it bigger, but the fact we were the first can never be disputed!" Bastin finished. |
