FENELON FAIR – BETTER THAN EVER IN 2007!

By John Lester

Excitement continues to build towards the 2007 Fenelon Fair, to be held August 10th, 11th and 12th at the Fair grounds in Fenelon Falls.

Hosted by the Fenelon Agricultural Society under the leadership of President Stephen Wilson, the Fair has continued to grow since its inception many generations ago. In fact many of today’s participating families have seen four generations involved in the annual event in one capacity or another.

Highlighted activities will start as usual on Friday night with "Loonie and Toonie" Night on the Midway along with the ever popular truck and tractor pull. Friday night’s pulling contests traditionally attract some of the best professional pulling rigs in the province as well as a great cross section of local competitors who look forward to this annual opportunity to compete against their neighbors.

Saturday’s events include all the things that have given the Fair its solid background for as long as most can remember including the Light and Heavy Horse Shows, Cattle Competitions, Sheep, Goats, Live Country Entertainment, Feather and Fur Show, as well as Children’s activities and contests. It’s always wise to come early if you want a seat for Saturday Night’s Demolition Derby produced by Edge Motorsports.

Sunday’s highlights include The Horse Pull, Saddle Horse Show, Talent Show,Lawn & Garden Tractor Pull, and ATV Pull.

Each day the Fair is proud to showcase Commercial Exhibits, as well as an excellent array of Homecraft Competitions and Demonstrations, Agricultural Products Competitions, Art, Flowers and Culinary Arts of all kinds.

Once again area farm residents will be offered the opportunity to participate in the Decorated Bale Competition by putting up creative displays advertising the Fair right on their own property. In conjunction with this area businesses will be offered a decorated store window competition.
